Stop Watering Fake Flowers: How I Reclaimed My Energy, Joy & Self-Worth
I want to talk about something I wish someone had said to me years ago:
Watering fake flowers is not self-care.
But I didn’t know that then. I thought taking care of everything and everyone meant I was doing things right. Work was thriving. My kids were cared for. I showed up for my friends, remembered birthdays, offered support and kept my to-do list moving.
But here’s the truth I couldn’t admit until I completely burned out:
I was watering fake flowers.
I poured every ounce of myself into things that looked like they mattered — keeping the house perfect, replying to every email, saying “yes” when I meant “no,” staying up late to finish things no one even noticed. I was holding everything together… and ignoring myself.
Until one Christmas.
My kids had gone to their dad’s and I sat in my living room frozen. For four hours, I couldn’t move. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t even cry. My body had nothing left. I was empty — emotionally, physically, spiritually. Until the kids came home… and I jumped up like Supermom again.
That was the moment I knew: Something had to change.
So what do fake flowers look like?
They look like perfectionism.
Like overgiving.
Like hiding your pain behind a smile.
Like saying “I’m fine” when your heart is screaming.
Like forgetting who you are because you’re too busy proving you can handle it all.
Fake flowers don’t bloom. They don’t grow. And no matter how much energy we give them, they don’t give us anything back.
Want to start feeling great again?
Here are 3 ways I started filling my heart, soul, and energy — and how you can too:
🌿 Say “yes” to yourself before anyone else.
Ask yourself every morning: What do I need today? Give yourself five minutes before you give the world five hours.
🌿 Create quiet time.
Journaling, walking, sipping your tea in silence — whatever it looks like for you. Your nervous system needs peace. That’s where the healing begins.
🌿 Let go of something that doesn’t serve you.
One obligation. One toxic relationship. One habit that drains you. Letting go creates space for joy to enter.
It’s time to stop just surviving and start feeling great again.
That’s exactly why I created the Feel Great Masterclass — a beautiful, free session designed to help you reset, rediscover your worth and start showing up for you.
If you're ready to feel lighter, freer, and more like yourself again…
